MEET THE COACHES: MIGUEL ROJAS

As the fall season kicks off, we’d like to introduce you to an excellent new coach at Joük!

Meet Coach Miguel Rojas, who’s also a student at Brooklyn College, pursuing a degree in Children and Youth Studies.

He comes to us with impressive experience coaching already, as a coach for Brooklyn City F.C. and the Tibetan community’s United Sherpa Football Club; and as an assistant coach for two public middle school and high school teams.

Here’s more about Miguel:

FROM: New York/ Mexican-American

WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT COACHING IS… to see how kids learn and improve in the game.

WHAT I STRIVE TO TEACH KIDS IS…. develop themselves, enjoy and love the game.

FAVORITE SOCCER PLAYER OF ALL TIME: Lionel Messi

FAVORITE LANGUAGES FOR PLAYING SOCCER: English and Spanish

SOCCER MUSIC: “Waka Waka,” the theme song from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa

 FAVORITE MOVE: The Neymar Chop

FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME: Mexico Vs USA 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final

FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY SOCCER: Pier 5, Pier 40, Riverbank State Park, Aviator Sports, and Randall's Island Park

FAVORITE FOOD TO EAT AFTER PLAYING: Peanut butter and jelly sandwich

SOCCER PLAYER LOOK-ALIKE: Arturo Vidal from Chile’s national team (Hmm..there’s actually quite a resemblance!)

IF I WAS IN CHARGE OF FIFA, I WOULD.... build soccer camps for poor communities.

WORDS OF WISDOM: “Respect everyone. Never give up, always keep trying.”

Come out and meet Miguel on the field this season!
